Session Consultation

It's time to get creative! Each and every client that I work with is unique and has their own special style. From start to finish we craft an experience resulting in a truly one of a kind session. From simple modern portraiture to grand themes and costumes we love the challenge of realizing a clients vision.

Heart Spot sessions begin with a consultation visit in studio or in your home prior to scheduling the actual photographic appointment. During this planning time we will create the overall vision of the session, including the intention for your portraits, view different  products offered, cover basic pricing information, discuss what types of outfits work well & how to prepare for the day.

Additionally, I get to know You, Your Family and Your Pets prior to taking any photos, it's a great ice breaker for me to get acquainted with your pet or child's personality without them having to "perform" for the camera.

The Portrait Experience

As a boutique studio, we want to make sure the customer experience is always "Best in Class" so we never over schedule or rush your session. You and your family receive the time and attention necessary to capture images that will become memories you will cherish for years to come.

Studio sessions are usually about an hour in length are private and taken in a controlled environment for the comfort & safety of your pets and family. Our staff work together with you, to achieve great expressions and poses with minimal handling or stress.

Location sessions are preferred to be on private properties and are usually scheduled for about 2 hours. When in public settings we always practice safety first and will never put a pet in a situation that could cause harm to itself or someone else. In these instances, leashes are always kept on and removed from the final image in editing.

Presentation & Ordering

The experience doesn't end with the session, the true magic is revealed  at the sideshow presentation. Usually a week after the session, we schedule an ordering appointment. At this time your images are expertly prepared and projected actual size in the Studio Theater,

Together we create just how your images will be displayed in your home. Products can be  purchased either in collections or A la Carte and are crafted by the highest quality professional labs to ensure you receive the finest archival images you'll be able to enjoy for years to come.

Whether you desire a beautiful heirloom album, a classic black & white gallery framed portrait or a more contemporary signature stacked-metal art wall piece, Heart Spot will deliver artwork that is completely YOU!

Common Questions

Now that you know more about the Heart Spot experience,

you may be wondering...

Q. Does my pet need to be well trained to have their picture taken? There is no way my pet will sit still for a portrait! Not necessarily... Our very patient photographer is a certified dog trainer and has worked with many types of animals big & small over the years. She has many techniques for capturing a moment at just the right instant. We use props and leashes when necessary, which can be removed from the final images. We regularly take photos of rescued pets available for adoption. Many of these puppies and abandoned older dogs and cats have very little training or experience staying still, yet we always capture beautiful images of them. We will also do a brief assessment during the consultation appointment and will discuss training tips to practice at home prior to your session if needed.

Q. I have a black /dark pet, who’s eyes always disappear in photos, or they look like a black blob! Will you be able to see them well? Certainly! That is the main reason to have Heart Spot take your portrait! We know the perfect way to light a subject and are experienced in highlighting the eyes and fur of any animal, especially black dogs and cats with dark eyes. You will notice in my portfolio that I give extra attention to the eyes of all the animals I photograph. I always want them looking into the camera lens not in just the general direction, thus creating a more emotional connection between the viewer and the subject in the final image

Q. I AM interested...how much should I budget for my artwork? Because all Heart Spot sessions are customized for each client, pricing varies. You should expect to spend a minimum of $500 on your full photography experience and custom artwork. We occasionally offer special theme sessions, with packages starting at $200. These are seasonal, are tailored to a holiday or event and include exclusive offer products. We accept all major credit cards. Visit the services and products page for more specific information.
